Catherine Storr was born July 21, 1913, in London, England, and died January 6, 2001, in England. She was a psychiatrist for 14 years before becoming a full-time storyteller and author of children's books. She wrote in many genres, both fiction and non-fiction, and is perhaps best known for her Polly stories. Many of her works are considered classics, especially in England.
